Sinch sells WhatsApp in two ways. Sinch Engage, the self-serve platform that used to be MessageMedia, is priced as an SMS plan (US accounts start at $99 a month billed annually, $119 billed monthly), and WhatsApp is a $10 a month add-on that includes 1,000 templated messages and conversations, then $0.05 each.
The Sinch Conversation API, the developer route, has no public WhatsApp price and is quoted by sales. For a US business, the practical number to hold on to is the gap between $0.05 and Meta's $0.0034 utility fee: at 10,000 templates a month that is the difference between a $559 bill on Engage and roughly $133 on a WhatsApp-only plan with Meta's fee at cost.

WhatsApp rides on an SMS plan
There is no WhatsApp-only Engage plan. The cheapest way in is Basics at $99 plus the $10 add-on, so a team that never sends a text still pays $109 a month for 3,000 SMS credits it will not use.
One allowance for everything
The add-on's 1,000 "templated messages and conversations" cover WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram together. Past that, each one is $0.05. Sinch footnotes that Meta surcharges may apply, so ask how Meta's fee shows up on your invoice.
Seats and numbers cost extra
Extra users and sub accounts are $25 a month each. One toll-free number is included; more toll-free or 10DLC numbers are $25 a month, and short codes start at $1,000 a month. Those matter for SMS, not WhatsApp.
What WhatsApp actually costs per message in the US
Whichever provider you use, Meta charges its own fee per delivered message. The table puts Meta's US rates next to the Engage overage rate so you can see how much of a Sinch bill is Sinch.

Why the "Ask Sinch" cells matter
Sinch's table counts templated messages and conversations against one allowance but does not define a conversation. If inbound chats or service replies count, a support inbox uses up the 1,000 fast and every reply after that is billed at $0.05. Get the definition in writing before you sign. Sinch WhatsApp API pricing: the Conversation API route
Developers reach WhatsApp at Sinch through the Conversation API, one API that routes to WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, Messenger, Viber and more. Sinch does not publish a WhatsApp price for it. You get a quote from sales, and Meta's per-message fee is passed through on top of whatever Sinch charges.
On features, the Conversation API is current. Its WhatsApp documentation covers Flows, payments, Direct Send, business-scoped user IDs, voice calling and max price bidding, which is more than many smaller providers document.
What that means for a buyer: the API is a sound choice for an engineering team that wants one vendor across channels and is ready to negotiate. It is not the fastest route for a marketing team that wants to upload a list and send this week, and without a public rate you cannot compare it on price until you are in a sales process.

If most of your volume is SMS to US customers and WhatsApp is a few hundred messages a month to international clients, Sinch Engage is a sensible single bill and the 1,000 included templates may be all you ever use. The math turns once WhatsApp becomes the main channel. The Sinch column is linear because the $0.05 rate does not fall on higher plans; Pro or Advanced only lowers the SMS rate. At 50,000 templates, $2,450 of the $2,559 is the per-template charge. Enterprise pricing is negotiable, so a very large sender should get a quote, but compare it against Meta's $0.0034 rather than against the self-serve list.
