Native channel, 1:1 only

Pipedrive WhatsApp Integration: Connect WhatsApp to Pipedrive and Send Campaigns

Pipedrive brought back a native WhatsApp channel, and it is genuine: it runs on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform. But it is built for one-to-one conversations on a deal, not for broadcasting to a list. Here is exactly what it can and cannot do, and where a dedicated sender fills the gap.

Both Pipedrive and WaBulkSend send through Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API.

Short answer: Yes, Pipedrive integrates with WhatsApp again. After discontinuing its original Twilio-powered channel in 2024, Pipedrive built a new native WhatsApp integration that connects directly to Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, currently in beta and available on the Growth plan and above. It is real and it is compliant. The limit that catches people out is scope: the native channel is for one-to-one conversations tied to a deal, so a rep can reply to a lead, send a template, and keep the chat on the record. It does not broadcast one message to a segment, and it has no campaign analytics. To send an approved template to a whole list from your Pipedrive contacts, you export the segment and send it with a dedicated WhatsApp broadcast tool pointed at the same WhatsApp Business Account.

Last updated July 2026. Pipedrive is a trademark of Pipedrive OU. WaBulkSend is built on Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API and is not affiliated with Pipedrive or Meta Platforms, Inc.

Does Pipedrive integrate with WhatsApp?

Yes, and the honest version of this story has a twist most SEO articles get wrong. Pipedrive's first native WhatsApp integration was powered by Twilio and was closed to new customers in August 2023, then shut down entirely in February 2024. For a while, "Pipedrive dropped WhatsApp" was accurate, and a lot of stale blog posts still say exactly that. It is out of date. Pipedrive has since relaunched a new, first-party WhatsApp integration that it builds itself and that connects straight to Meta's WhatsApp connection flow, no third-party reseller in the middle.

That native channel is currently in beta and gated to the Growth plan or higher. Because it uses Meta's embedded signup, you are connecting your own WhatsApp Business Account to Pipedrive as a Meta tech provider, which is the same compliant path every legitimate tool uses. That matters, because the alternative many "WhatsApp for Pipedrive" apps rely on is automating WhatsApp Web through a browser after a QR scan, which breaks WhatsApp's terms of service and risks a permanent ban on your number.

Pipedrive's own marketplace still lists third-party WhatsApp apps too, from Twilio-based connectors to tools like TimelinesAI and Rasayel. Some of those do add bulk or broadcast features the native channel lacks. If you go that route, check carefully whether the app sends through the official Cloud API or puppets WhatsApp Web, because only the former is safe for a business number.

What Pipedrive's native WhatsApp does, and does not, do

The single most common mistake is buying it expecting to run WhatsApp campaigns from your deal pipeline.

Job Native Pipedrive WhatsApp What you actually need for it
Reply to a new lead on WhatsApp Yes. Real-time back-and-forth chat, right on the deal. Nothing extra. This is what it is built for.
Send a quick follow-up template Yes. Use an approved template from inside Pipedrive. Nothing extra.
Keep the conversation on the record Yes. The chat is attached to the lead, contact, and deal. Nothing extra.
Send one template to 5,000 contacts No. There is no broadcast or segment-blast feature. A dedicated WhatsApp broadcast tool.
See delivery and read rates per campaign No. It is conversation management, not campaign analytics. A sender that reports per-message status.
Schedule a drip sequence of templates No native sequence builder for WhatsApp broadcasts. A campaign tool with scheduling and follow-ups.

Read the table as a division of labor, not a knock on Pipedrive. For a sales rep working named deals, having WhatsApp in the CRM with history on the record is genuinely useful, and Pipedrive does that well. The moment the job becomes "message a whole segment at once," you have crossed out of what the native channel was designed for and into what a WhatsApp broadcast tool exists to do.

How to connect WhatsApp to Pipedrive in four steps

The native channel authorizes through Meta, then attaches to your pipeline.

1

Check your plan

The native WhatsApp integration is in beta and needs the Growth plan or higher. Confirm your Pipedrive edition before you start.

2

Get your WABA ready

Set up a Facebook Business Manager account, verify your business, and register a dedicated phone number to the WhatsApp Business Platform.

3

Run Meta connection flow

From Pipedrive, start the WhatsApp integration and sign in with Facebook. Pick the WhatsApp Business Account and number to connect through Meta embedded signup.

4

Add templates and test

Submit your message templates for Meta approval, then send a test to yourself before you route real leads through the channel.

A number connects to one service at a time. If it is already live in the WhatsApp Business app or another tool, disconnect it there before Pipedrive can claim it, and remember that registering a number to the platform removes it from the consumer WhatsApp apps for good.

What the Pipedrive WhatsApp integration costs

There are two layers here, and confusing them is how a bill surprises you.

The first layer is your Pipedrive subscription. The native WhatsApp channel is included in the plan rather than sold as a separate add-on, but it needs the Growth tier or higher, so if you are on Essential you are paying to move up before WhatsApp is even on the table.

The second layer is messages. Pipedrive passes Meta's per-message charges straight through to you. Meta bills per delivered template message, priced by template category and by the recipient's country, and it has billed this way since July 1, 2025. The older model where you paid for 24-hour conversations is deprecated, so ignore any article still describing it. Neither Meta nor Pipedrive publishes a fixed US per-message rate you can rely on, so treat any exact cent figure with suspicion and budget from Meta's current rate card instead. Our WhatsApp Business API pricing page shows how to do that.

What you are never charged for

Non-template messages are free inside an open 24-hour customer service window, and utility templates delivered inside that window are free too. When a chat starts from a Click to WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page call-to-action, all messages are free for 72 hours. Those free paths are identical whichever tool you send from.

The US marketing block applies in Pipedrive too

If your audience is American, read this before you plan anything promotional. Since April 1, 2025, Meta has not delivered marketing-category template messages to US phone numbers. They fail with error 131049, and there is still no resume date as of July 2026. This is a Meta policy, so it is not a reason to pick one tool over another. It hits Pipedrive, WaBulkSend, HubSpot, and a raw Cloud API call identically.

What still reaches US numbers: utility templates such as order and appointment updates, authentication templates, and any reply sent inside the 24-hour window. Plan American WhatsApp around those transactional flows. See the WhatsApp bulk messaging rules for what is allowed in full, or error 131049 if you are already seeing failures.

Pipedrive WhatsApp vs a dedicated WhatsApp sender

An honest split, including where Pipedrive is the better answer.

Job Pipedrive native WhatsApp Dedicated WhatsApp sender
Chat history on the deal Pipedrive wins. The conversation sits on the lead, contact, and deal automatically. Needs an integration to push history back into the CRM.
You run sales on Pipedrive already Pipedrive wins. One tool for the rep, no new login. A second subscription to learn.
1:1 reply to a warm lead Pipedrive wins. Built for exactly this. Works, but overkill for one-off replies.
Send one template to a whole segment Not supported. No broadcast feature. The core job. Upload a list and send.
Per-campaign delivery and read rates Not available. Reported on every message.
Scheduling and drip sequences No native WhatsApp sequences. Built in, with scheduling and follow-up steps.

If Pipedrive is your pipeline and WhatsApp is how reps talk to individual leads, use the native channel and stop there. If the job is campaigns, sending one approved template to thousands of contacts and seeing exactly who received and read it, that is what a WhatsApp bulk sender is built for. Plenty of teams run both: Pipedrive for the deal conversation, a campaign tool for the send, both pointed at the same WhatsApp Business Account.

Pipedrive WhatsApp integration: common questions

Does Pipedrive integrate with WhatsApp? +

Yes. Pipedrive relaunched a native WhatsApp integration that connects directly to Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, currently in beta on the Growth plan and above. It replaced the older Twilio-powered channel that shut down in 2024, so any article saying Pipedrive dropped WhatsApp is out of date. You connect your own WhatsApp Business Account through Meta's embedded signup.

Can I send bulk WhatsApp messages from Pipedrive? +

Not from the native channel. Pipedrive's WhatsApp integration is built for one-to-one conversations attached to a deal, so a rep can reply and send templates, but there is no broadcast or segment-blast feature and no campaign analytics. To send one approved template to a whole list, export the segment and send it with a dedicated WhatsApp broadcast tool pointed at the same WhatsApp Business Account.

How much does the Pipedrive WhatsApp integration cost? +

The native channel is included with your Pipedrive plan but requires the Growth tier or higher. On top of that, Pipedrive passes through Meta's per-message charges, which are billed per delivered template by category and recipient country. Neither Meta nor Pipedrive publishes a fixed US per-message rate, so budget from Meta's current rate card rather than any exact cent figure you see quoted.

Is the Pipedrive WhatsApp integration official? +

Yes. The current native integration connects through Meta's WhatsApp connection flow, the same compliant Cloud API path every legitimate tool uses. That is different from third-party apps that automate WhatsApp Web through a browser after a QR scan, which violate WhatsApp's terms of service and risk a ban on your number.

Did Pipedrive remove WhatsApp? +

It did, and then it brought it back. The original Twilio-powered WhatsApp integration closed to new customers in August 2023 and shut down fully in February 2024. Pipedrive later built a new first-party native WhatsApp integration on Meta's platform, which is the one available today in beta on Growth and above.

Can Pipedrive send WhatsApp marketing messages to US customers? +

Not marketing-category templates. Meta has paused delivery of marketing templates to US phone numbers since April 1, 2025, and they fail with error 131049. This applies to every WhatsApp tool, not just Pipedrive. Utility templates, authentication templates, and replies inside the 24-hour window still reach US numbers, so transactional WhatsApp works fine.
