Best WhatsApp Slack Integration Tools for Support Teams
Slack has no official WhatsApp app, so the tool in the middle decides whether you can reply from Slack and whether your number is safe. Six options compared on documented facts.
Slack does not have an official WhatsApp integration, and neither company looks likely to build one. Meta publishes no Slack app, Slack ships no WhatsApp connector, and the WhatsApp Business Platform is an API rather than a network you can plug a workspace into. So every team that runs customer conversations from Slack is relying on a third party in the middle, and the tool you pick decides two things that matter far more than the feature list: whether you can actually reply from Slack, and whether your phone number is at risk.
I went through the public documentation of the tools that come up most often for this. Below is what each one actually says it does, split by the only distinction that really counts.
The one thing to check before you compare features
There are exactly two ways a tool can put WhatsApp into Slack, and vendors do not always make it obvious which one they use.
The first is Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API. You register a business number with Meta, complete verification, and the vendor connects through the documented API. This is a supported use, it survives, and it is what you want under a main business line.
The second is a WhatsApp Web bridge. You scan a QR code with a phone that has a normal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app number on it, and the vendor holds that logged in session open, relaying messages in both directions. Setup takes about two minutes, which is the entire appeal. The problem is that the free WhatsApp Business app has no API at all, so this is automation of a consumer session, and WhatsApp's terms of service prohibit bulk messaging, auto-messaging, auto-dialing, and the like. Enforcement lands on the phone number, not on the vendor who sold you the tool.
You can tell them apart from the onboarding screen alone. If it asks you to scan a QR code, it is a Web bridge. If it asks for a Meta Business Manager login, a WhatsApp Business Account, and a verified phone number, it is the Cloud API. There is no third option.
The tools compared
| Tool | Connection method | Reply from Slack? | Published pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Social Intents | Official. Its documentation states the integration "uses Meta's official WhatsApp Business API" and requires "a Meta WhatsApp Business Account with a verified phone number". | Yes. Each conversation becomes a Slack thread titled with the customer name or phone number, and anyone on the team can answer from it. | Free trial advertised; plan pricing not stated in the setup guide. |
| n8n | Official. Ships a WhatsApp Business Cloud node and a separate WhatsApp Trigger, plus a Slack node, so you wire the two together yourself. | Possible, but you build it. There is no thread state out of the box, so replies need a step you design. | Open source and free to self-host; paid n8n Cloud plans available. |
| Zapier or Make | Official. Both carry WhatsApp Business connectors alongside their Slack apps. | Awkward. Fine for posting messages into a channel, clumsy for two-way, and every message consumes tasks or operations. | Per task or per operation, so cost scales with conversation volume. |
| Rasayel | Via Zapier rather than a native Slack app. | No. It is one directional. Only private notes prefixed with "/slack" forward to the channel, and its guide says "no other private notes or messages will be sent to Slack". | Not stated in the integration guide. |
| TimelinesAI | Unclear. Its own guide says the product "eliminates the need for additional software or the WhatsApp Business API", and routes Slack notifications through Zapier. The exact connection method is not documented publicly. | Notification triggers are documented; full two-way replies from Slack are not clearly specified. | Free trial referenced; plan pricing not given on that page. |
| 2Chat | QR bridge, and it says so plainly: "Link your WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number by scanning a QR code. No WhatsApp Business API or intermediary tools required." | Yes. Conversations arrive as Slack threads and replies forward back to the customer. | Basic plan listed at $49 per month, priced on API requests rather than Slack seats. |
Vendor details above come from each vendor's own public documentation as of August 2026. Pricing and capabilities change, so re-check the vendor page before you buy.
Which one to pick
If you want customers answered from Slack and you want the setup to still exist next year, Social Intents is the clearest documented fit: it states the official API requirement up front and it does real two-way threading. That combination is rarer than it should be.
If you have an engineer and any routing logic at all, n8n is the better value. You get the official Cloud API nodes, you self-host, there is no per-seat fee stacked on top of Meta's message charges, and you decide how threads map to customers. Budget a day or two rather than an afternoon, because the reply path is where the work is.
If you only need visibility, not replies, use Zapier or Make and stop there. A single scenario that posts inbound WhatsApp messages into a channel solves the real problem most small teams have, which is nobody noticing a customer wrote in at 7pm.
And if a tool's pitch is that you do not need the WhatsApp Business API, read that as a warning rather than a feature. It is describing a QR bridge. The $49 a month is not the cost; the cost is the number on your packaging and your Google Business Profile going dark one morning.
What none of these tools can do for you
Every route inherits Meta's rules, and putting a nicer interface on top changes none of them.
You can send free-form replies only within 24 hours of the customer's last message. That window opens when they write to you and refreshes each time they write again. Outside it, only a template Meta has already approved will go through, so a reply typed into Slack at hour 30 is rejected by the API rather than delivered late.
Marketing templates still do not reach US phone numbers. Meta paused that delivery on April 1, 2025 and returns error 131049. Utility and authentication templates, and replies inside the 24 hour window, do deliver, which is why support and transactional messaging are the WhatsApp use cases US teams can actually run today.
There is also a cost change worth putting in your Q4 budget. Replies inside the 24 hour window are free right now, because Meta made service conversations free for all businesses on November 1, 2024. Several solution providers, including Wati, SendPulse, and charles, now say Meta will reintroduce per-message charges for service messages on October 1, 2026, at the same per-country rate as utility templates and with no volume discounts. Meta's own public pricing page still says service conversations are free and has not published the new rate card, and under Meta's governance rule pricing changes take effect only on the first day of a quarter with one month of notice, so the final rates are due by September 1, 2026. If your team answers a lot of WhatsApp from Slack, model those replies at your utility rate rather than at zero.
Slack is a good inbox and a bad reporting tool
The trade you make by running support in Slack is speed now for visibility later. Threads are excellent for answering one person quickly and useless for answering a question like "what are customers asking about most this month". Slack has no tagging you will actually maintain, no conversation volume reporting, and no way to connect a complaint to the account it came from. Teams that run this setup for a while usually end up feeding conversation data somewhere it can sit alongside tickets and usage, which is the kind of job a product analytics tool that unifies feedback with usage and tickets exists to do.
The other thing Slack cannot do is send. There is no contact list, no template manager, no scheduling, and no delivery reporting, so a campaign from Slack means looping an automation over a spreadsheet and hoping. The split most teams settle on is sending campaigns from a platform built for it and piping the replies into Slack, so the outbound side has templates and delivery data while the team answers wherever it already works.
Common questions
Does Slack have WhatsApp integration?
Not officially. Slack's app directory has no WhatsApp app published by Meta, and Slack ships no WhatsApp connector of its own. Every working setup uses a third party in between: a workflow tool such as Zapier, Make, or n8n, a bridge app installed into the workspace, or a custom Slack app built against Meta's Cloud API.
What is the best WhatsApp Slack integration for a support team?
For two-way conversations on the official API, Social Intents is the clearest documented option, since it requires a verified WhatsApp Business Account and maps each customer to a Slack thread agents can answer from. For teams with an engineer, n8n on the Cloud API costs less and gives full control over routing. For notifications only, Zapier or Make is enough.
Can you reply to WhatsApp messages from Slack?
Yes, with a time limit. Tools that support two-way threading let agents answer in a Slack thread and deliver it to the customer on WhatsApp. Meta allows free-form replies only within 24 hours of the customer's last message; after that only an approved template can reach them, which most Slack bridges cannot send.
Will a Slack WhatsApp integration get my number banned?
Only if it uses a QR bridge. Integrations built on Meta's official Cloud API are a supported use and carry no ban risk from the integration itself. Tools that connect by scanning a QR code are automating a consumer WhatsApp session, which WhatsApp's terms prohibit, and the enforcement falls on your phone number.
How much does it cost to connect WhatsApp to Slack?
Three separate costs. Slack charges its usual per-seat price and adds nothing for WhatsApp. The middle layer costs whatever the tool charges, from nothing if you self-host n8n up to a flat monthly fee such as the $49 2Chat lists for its Basic plan. Meta bills you separately per delivered template by category and country on your own WhatsApp Business account.
If you are still deciding how to wire the two together rather than which vendor to buy, the setup steps and the four routes are covered in more depth on our Slack WhatsApp integration page. For the sending side, see WhatsApp bulk messaging and the WhatsApp shared inbox options for teams that outgrow a channel bridge.
